Faith, hope, depression, Jesus, Love, grateful, Family, hope, appreciation

A little bit about me… September 12, 2009

Hmmmm…  I am still trying to decide just how much I want to put on this blog.  My goal is to help people who experience depression, anxiety, sadness, hopelessness, etc.  I have been to all of those places and I know they’re not very pleasant.

I am 46 years old, soon to be 47.  I’m married to Larry.  We’ve been married since October 23, 1992.

Wow.  It’ll be 17 years in a few weeks.  We’ve been together since November 30, 1986.  WOW!!  It’ll be 23 years next month!  I was lucky when I met Larry.  We had a ready made family.  He had two kids.  Ryan was 9 and Jennifer, 7.  Larry told me right off the bat, “It’s a package deal.”  I had no problem with that.  I’ll fill in a lot of the details as I post.

Larry and I are in real estate.  I’ll tell some stories about that too as I go along.

We have a dog, Lolita.  She’s from Mulege Mexico.  (Moo-la-hey)  She’s six years old.  I know I’ll have lots of updates about her and her adventures.

Our cat, Rocki, is 21 years old.  Yes, 21.  Andrea says she’s not a cat anymore, she’s a ‘spirit’ of a cat.  She’s actually pretty spry.  She doesn’t hear very well anymore, but she likes to play and lay on my butt when I nap on the couch.  She’s done that forever.  She loves to be petted and will drool if you do it for just a minute or two.

Ryan is married to Andrea.  They were married on Cinco de Mayo of 2005 I believe.  They have two sons.  Cameron was born on Oct. 6th of 2006 so he just turned three.  Asher was just born on June 27th of this year.  So he’s about 3 and a half month old.  Of course both our grandsons are absolutely adorable!!  Tons more to come about all of them!

Our daughter Jennifer is married to David.  They were married on July 30th of 2007.  Jennifer is getting her Master’s Degree in psychology.  We are so very proud of her!  Soon they will have kids too, maybe a little girl??  No matter.  I just can’t wait!  I’ll have updates as we get more information.

I am the baby of seven kids.  Four girls, three boys.  I have tons of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Most everyone is in Southern California.  A sister and brother are in Arkansas.  I love my family so, so much.  There’s so much to share about them.  Funny stories… sad stories… fond memories…  We all seem to have slightly different impressions about growing up in the “Turk” family.  I’m coming to understand that it wasn’t so bad.  All my brothers and sisters are very special to me and I’ve learned so much from them.

My parents have both passed away.  I’m ashamed to say I don’t remember when my father died.  I can’t even remember events surrounding his passing to help me estimate.  I’m sorry.  My mom died May 23, 2008.  That was a tough time.  I’m still amazed I got through it as well as I did.  I miss her terribly.

I wish I’d stayed in contact with my friends from high school.  I didn’t have any friends in college.  I worked too much.  So, I don’t really have girlfriends I’m close too.  I have two from high school and one from when I was about 5-6 years old that I am in contact with and it’s great when I get to see them.  I’m working on the “friends” thing.  I have work friends that I like to have lunch, shop, walk my dog, and chat with.  They are all special people that I learn a lot from.

So, that’s me in a nutshell.

Hey, I need to work on the friends thing too. I get too self reliant. When can we take our dogs to the beach or a dog park?

Hi Aunt M – I love you. For as much as it’s worth… God wanted me to tell you that. I apologize for showing any disrespect to you. You are entitled to your opinion.

Will this get to you? I love you. I know you think I just throw that phrase around, but I truly do love you.
